Legal Counsel
Salary: £75,000-£85,000 + Benefits
Location: Coventry

Having entered the market in 2025 with our first electric SUV, the Geely EX5, we’re continuing to grow rapidly as we build a nationwide dealer and service network.
Job Purpose
As Legal Counsel, you will work with the business to deliver the Company’s purpose providing pragmatic, clear advice at all levels and informing decision-making.
Main Responsibilities
- Advise on commercial contract negotiations, drafting, interpretation, and termination arrangements, including supply and distribution agreements, dealer and fleet arrangements, logistics, procurement, and marketing contracts.
- Advise on commercial disputes.
- Demonstrate a willingness to support all areas of the team’s responsibilities across the businesses it serves.
- Support key areas of responsibility, including compliance (including data protection), corporate governance, and the protection and licensing of intellectual property.
- Conduct legal risk analysis based on a detailed understanding of the company’s strategic objectives.
- Assimilate information, solve complex problems, and make informed recommendations, often within tight timescales.
- Contribute to the planning and strategic direction of the business.
- Monitor and assess legal developments, including policy changes, legislation, regulatory updates, and case law.
- Deliver training to the business on relevant legal and compliance topics.
- Develop and maintain standard documents, templates, precedents, and procedures.
- Instruct, manage, and oversee external legal service providers, ensuring compliance with budgetary controls.
- Collaborate with the Geely Legal Team and other Geely representatives.
- Respond to requests for information from the Geely Group.
- Work collaboratively with other members of the Legal Team to ensure an even distribution of workload and effective utilization of the team's combined skills and expertise.

Education, Skills, and Personal Characteristics Required
- Qualified lawyer in England and Wales with a current Law Society practising certificate.
- Approximately 2–4 years’ post-qualification experience (PQE), with strong commercial contract negotiation, drafting, interpretation, and advisory experience.
- Strong academic background with the ability to analyze complex legal issues and provide practical, commercially focused advice.
- Experience in areas such as commercial contracting, compliance, international trade, supply and distribution arrangements, and dispute resolution would be advantageous.
- Irish law qualification and/or experience would be beneficial.
- Commercially minded self-starter with the ability to manage competing priorities and deliver results within demanding timescales.
- Proactive, enthusiastic, curious, and collaborative approach, with strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Excellent stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build effective working relationships and operate as a trusted business partner.
- Strong team player who can work collaboratively while also operating independently and escalating matters appropriately when required.
- Continuous improvement mindset, with a willingness to embrace and develop new tools, technologies, processes, and ways of working.
