Junior Legal Counsel | Investment Management
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a junior corporate/commercial lawyer (0–3 PQE) to join a highly regarded, privately owned investment management firm with a strong focus on emerging markets.
The business specialises in private credit and alternative investment strategies, with a significant international footprint and a particularly strong presence across Africa and other high-growth markets.
Working as part of a collaborative in-house legal team and reporting to the General Counsel, you will gain exposure to a broad range of corporate, commercial and regulatory matters, supporting the day-to-day operations of a sophisticated international investment business.
This is an excellent opportunity for a junior lawyer looking to make their first move in-house, or an existing in-house lawyer seeking greater breadth, responsibility and exposure within the investment management sector.
The role
Your responsibilities will include:
- Corporate governance: Supporting group entity management, board and committee matters, corporate restructurings and intercompany arrangements.
- Commercial contracts: Drafting, reviewing and negotiating a wide range of commercial agreements, including technology, outsourcing, consultancy and service provider contracts.
- Employment: Advising on employment contracts, policies, incentive arrangements and other HR-related legal matters.
- Regulatory & compliance: Working alongside compliance colleagues on regulatory obligations, internal policies, data protection and risk management.
- General legal advisory: Providing practical, commercially focused legal advice to stakeholders across the business, with exposure to strategic projects and cross-border matters.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
