The Vacancy

As part of the ongoing expansion of the RSK Group, we are looking for a Legal Counsel with at least 4-5 years PQE to join our extremely busy in-house legal team, which is primarily based in Helsby, Cheshire.

This is a full-time role (40 hours per week), with flexible working arrangements available.

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and commercially minded Legal Counsel to join our Group Commercial Legal Services team. Reporting directly to the Head of Commercial Legal Services, you will play a key role in providing high-quality legal support across the business, advising on a broad range of commercial matters and helping to manage legal risk.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide legal advice and support to the Group’s central support functions, Divisional Commercial Directors and businesses on general commercial contracts, including but not limited to the drafting and negotiation of construction, engineering and other contracts, consultant appointments and other ancillary documentation, procurement contract, and new project pursuits, including joint venture and collaboration arrangements.
  • Support the Group’s businesses in respect of disputes.
  • Assist on Group-wide initiatives for developing and maintaining standard contract forms and guidance, compliance, new business processes and training.
  • Provide any other legal advice required by the Group businesses and ad-hoc duties.
  • Support a collaborative and proactive relationship with the Group’s businesses.
  • Support the onboarding of new businesses into the Group.
  • Report regularly to the Head of Commercial Legal Services on matter status and participate in team meetings and cross-Group forums as required.

Person Specification

  • Qualified Solicitor with 4-5 years PQE
  • Law Degree/GDL/MA Law
  • Legal Practice Course, with optional modules being commercial/construction focused
  • Admitted to Solicitors Roll
  • Good communication and organizational skills
  • Approachable
  • Ability to analyze, interpret and work to a high level of accuracy with a keen eye for detail
  • Team player and willing to ‘roll sleeves up’
  • Self-motivated and can show initiative
  • Ability to work to tight deadlines and demonstrable experience working under pressure in a fast-paced role
