Legal Counsel - Land
We’re supporting one of the UK’s largest and most significant infrastructure projects with the appointment of a Legal Counsel specialising in Land.
This is a rare opportunity to join a major project that has moved firmly into delivery and play a key role in securing and managing the land rights required across a complex, long-term development.
Working closely with the project’s Land, Planning and Delivery teams, you’ll advise across a broad range of property and infrastructure matters including land acquisitions, leases, licences, easements, wayleaves and access rights, alongside landowner negotiations and compulsory acquisition.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits
No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.
The role will also provide exposure to the wider consenting framework surrounding the project, including DCO-related matters, but the core requirement is for someone with strong land/property expertise who can provide pragmatic, commercially focused advice within a major project environment.
We’re particularly interested in speaking with lawyers from real estate, infrastructure, utilities, energy or major projects backgrounds, whether currently in private practice or in-house. Previous experience of compulsory purchase, land assembly or major infrastructure projects would be particularly relevant.
