Our client is a major global energy trading house with a portfolio spanning LNG, coal and freight across Asia, Europe, the Middle East, Africa and the Americas. They are hiring a Legal Counsel to sit within their Legal, Compliance & Contracts team in London, drafting and negotiating LNG trading agreements, as well as advising on compliance matters.

What you'll do:

  • Negotiate and draft agreements across LNG, coal, power, ISDAs/derivatives and freight
  • Advise the business on legal risk, spotting issues before they become problems
  • Train the wider team on ABC, competition law, AML and sanctions

What you'll need:

  • LNG trading experience is essential — this is the #1 requirement
  • A broad physical commodities trading background
  • 4–8 years PQE, qualified lawyer, top law firm or in-house pedigree
  • Sharp drafting and negotiation skills, and the commercial instincts to match
