Legal Counsel
Due to continuing global expansion, we are seeking an experienced Legal Counsel to join our team with experience in commercial, corporate and intellectual property licensing matters.
Job Purpose
Join us to lead on strategic partnerships, licensing and product sales in a cutting-edge ag-biotech business transforming tropical agriculture.
The successful candidate will provide practical, business-focused legal support to enable Tropic’s global partnerships, licensing strategy and product commercialisation, with a focus on complex agreements across the ag-biotech value chain.
Responsibilities
- Draft, review, and advise on a variety of commercial contracts, including research collaborations, licensing partnerships, sales and distribution agreements.
- Partner closely with commercial teams to provide practical legal guidance and enable deal velocity.
- Advise on corporate transactions, intra-group matters and governance matters.
- Work collaboratively with internal stakeholders to identify and manage risk and ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations while maintaining business momentum.
- Support the development of the legal function to improve ways of working, templates, playbooks and adoption of technology.

Requirements
- Qualified lawyer with 5+ years’ post-qualification experience (PQE).
- Strong background in commercial contracts; experience in both private practice and in-house settings is highly desirable.
- Proven experience handling IP licensing and corporate transactional matters.
- Experience working within life sciences, such as healthcare, agriculture, or biotechnology.
- Pragmatic, solution-oriented approach with excellent communication skills and ‘can do’ attitude.
- Spanish language skills desirable.
