Job Description
Location: Healix Group, Healix House, Esher Green, Esher, UK or Cape Town, South Africa

As our business continues to grow internationally, we are looking for an experienced Legal Counsel to join our team in either Esher or Cape Town.
This is an exciting opportunity for a commercially minded legal professional who enjoys working in a fast-paced, international environment and wants to play a key role in supporting business growth, managing legal risk and influencing strategic decision-making across a global organisation.
The Role
As Legal Counsel, you will provide practical, commercially focused legal advice across the Healix Group, supporting a broad range of business functions and stakeholders. You will be responsible for drafting, reviewing and negotiating a diverse range of commercial agreements, ensuring legal compliance and helping the business achieve its strategic objectives while effectively managing risk.
Working closely with teams across Sales, Procurement, Operations and Senior Leadership, you will act as a trusted advisor on contractual, corporate and commercial matters while serving as the primary liaison with external legal counsel.
Key Responsibilities
- Draft, review and negotiate a wide range of commercial agreements, including:
- Client agreements
- Non-disclosure agreements
- Services, implementation and maintenance agreements
- Strategic partnership agreements
- Assistance, security and medical provider agreements
- Provide commercially focused legal advice to internal stakeholders across the business.
- Support contract negotiations and help mitigate legal and commercial risk.
- Advise on corporate and company law matters where required.
- Partner with colleagues across multiple business functions to deliver coordinated legal guidance.
- Contribute to major business initiatives and strategic projects.
- Support Sales teams with Requests for Proposal (RFPs), ensuring appropriate legal review of contractual terms, compliance requirements and risk considerations.
- Advise on intellectual property rights, confidentiality, compliance obligations, indemnities, warranties, limitations of liability and insurance matters.
- Manage relationships with external law firms and legal advisers.
- Deliver legal training and guidance to improve legal awareness across the organisation.
- Support existing and future partnerships as Healix expands into new and existing markets globally.

You Will Bring
- Experience in a commercial legal role, ideally within an international organisation.
- Strong experience drafting and negotiating complex commercial contracts with minimal supervision.
- Experience advising on professional services, government or central contracts within an international environment.
- Previous in-house legal experience.
- Excellent commercial judgement and a pragmatic approach to problem-solving.
- The ability to communicate complex legal issues clearly to a wide range of stakeholders.
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
- A collaborative approach and the confidence to influence stakeholders at all levels.
Qualifications
- Qualified Solicitor with relevant post-qualification experience.
- Current Solicitor's Practising Certificate.

Location
This role can be based in either our Esher (UK) office or our Cape Town (South Africa) office.

Required Criteria
- Strong negotiation and communication skills
- Commercial awareness
- Law degree and 4 years' post-qualification experience in commercial contracts
Desired Criteria
- Insurance / Financial Services experience
- Experience of working in a regulated environment
- Experience in IP issues and dealing with IP infringements
