People's Partnership is at the forefront of delivering better financial futures for millions of UK savers. As our organisation continues to grow in scale, complexity and influence, we are looking for an experienced Pensions Legal Counsel to join our expanding Legal team. This is a unique opportunity to play a key role in supporting one of the UK's largest master trusts while influencing major regulatory developments and strategic business initiatives. You'll provide expert pensions law advice and work alongside senior stakeholders, trustees, government bodies, regulators and industry partners on some of the most significant developments currently shaping the pensions sector.

The Opportunity

The demand for specialist pensions law expertise continues to increase due to:

  • Growth in the size and complexity of The People's Pension
  • Ongoing support of additional pension arrangements, including the Staff Pension Scheme
  • Major strategic transformation programmes
  • Emerging non-BAU activity such as acquisitions, integrations and large-scale bulk transfers
  • New legislative and regulatory requirements arising from the Pension Schemes Act 2026 and inheritance tax reforms
  • Increased engagement with Government, regulators and industry bodies on the development of secondary legislation and guidance
  • Heightened regulatory scrutiny across the master trust sector

What You'll Be Doing

You will take ownership of providing commercial, pragmatic and solutions-focused pensions legal advice across the business. Key responsibilities include:

  • Advising Trustees and senior business stakeholders on pensions law matters
  • Supporting proposition development, business development activities and strategic projects
  • Interpreting and implementing legislative and regulatory change
  • Drafting, reviewing and negotiating pensions-related legal documentation
  • Managing relationships with external legal advisers and regulatory bodies
  • Supporting governance, risk management and compliance activities
  • Contributing to consultations and policy discussions that help shape the future pensions landscape

What We're Looking For

You'll be a qualified lawyer with substantial post-qualification experience and strong technical knowledge of pensions law. You'll also bring:

  • Experience providing legal advice within pensions, financial services or a regulated environment
  • Excellent stakeholder management and influencing skills
  • Strong commercial awareness and judgement
  • The ability to translate complex legal issues into practical business solutions
  • A collaborative approach and passion for helping the organisation achieve its strategic ambitions
