Property Solicitor
An established public sector organisation is seeking a Property Solicitor to join its growing legal team. This is an excellent opportunity for a property law professional to play a key role in supporting a diverse property portfolio and providing legal advice on a broad range of local authority and public sector property matters.
The successful candidate will work closely with senior stakeholders, officers, and external partners, delivering practical and commercially focused legal advice while supporting strategic projects and day-to-day property transactions.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide specialist legal advice on a wide range of property-related matters across the organisation.
- Manage a varied caseload of commercial and public sector property work from instruction through to completion.
- Draft, review and negotiate legal documentation relating to land and property transactions.
- Support the acquisition, disposal, leasing and management of land and property assets.
- Advise on landlord and tenant issues, licenses, easements, wayleaves and other property interests.
- Work collaboratively with internal departments to support regeneration, development and asset management projects.
- Represent the organisation in meetings, negotiations and, where appropriate, legal proceedings.
- Ensure legal advice is delivered in a practical, solution-focused and risk-aware manner.
- Keep abreast of legal developments and emerging best practice relevant to property law and the public sector.

Experience and Knowledge
Essential
- Qualified Solicitor, Barrister or Chartered Legal Executive with a current practising certificate (where applicable).
- Strong experience handling a range of property law matters, including acquisitions, disposals and landlord and tenant work.
- Ability to manage competing priorities and a varied caseload effectively.
- Experience drafting and negotiating complex legal agreements.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to provide clear and pragmatic legal advice to both legal and non-legal audiences.

Desirable
- Previous experience working within local government, the wider public sector or a regulatory environment.
- Familiarity with public sector governance and decision-making processes.
- Knowledge of community asset transfers, subsidy control and best value considerations.
- Experience advising committees, boards or senior leadership teams.
- Understanding of public law and its interaction with property matters.
