Legal Counsel, Risk (In-House)
Location: Belfast, Glasgow, Edinburgh, Manchester, Birmingham or Bristol, with fully flexible working
Hours: Full-time or part-time
Salary: Competitive
About the Role
Conekt Legal is working with a leading professional services firm to hire a Legal Counsel for its in-house legal team. This is a true in-house role. You won't have clients, billable hours or time recording. Your client is the business itself, and you'll advise on its contracts, regulatory obligations and governance.
You'll join a well-established in-house risk and compliance team, working closely with senior leadership and colleagues across the UK and Ireland. The firm is open to full-time or part-time hours and flexible working. You can be based at any of its UK offices.

Responsibilities
- Advising the business on client engagement terms, outside counsel guidelines, panel appointments, framework agreements and other commercial contracts
- Reviewing and negotiating supplier and procurement agreements
- Supporting partnership matters, including partner hires and retirements, partnership documents and related governance, working closely with HR
- Advising on professional conduct and regulatory compliance across England and Wales, Scotland, Northern Ireland and Ireland, and dealing with the regulators directly when needed
- Reviewing and updating internal policies and procedures so they stay current and fit for purpose
- Contributing to wider strategic and operational projects
- Building strong relationships with stakeholders across the business and with outside parties

About You
- A qualified solicitor with at least 3 years' PQE
- Experience in risk, compliance or commercial contracts, ideally gained in-house or within a professional services environment
- A practical, solutions-focused approach, with the organisation to manage competing deadlines
- Excellent communication and analytical skills, and the confidence to advise senior stakeholders
- Enjoys working as part of a team and is keen to support and develop junior colleagues
