We are currently seeking an enthusiastic professional to join our Securities Services, UK & Europe team in the role of Legal Counsel.
You will have the opportunity to work across a broad and varied Securities Services environment rather than being focused on one specific product. The role allows you to develop your legal advisory skills while gaining valuable exposure to products, operations and client-facing work, working closely with senior business and product stakeholders. It offers the opportunity to broaden your commercial understanding alongside legal expertise and work on a diverse range of regulatory, product, strategic and client driven matters.

In this role you’ll:
- Provide legal advice, guidance and support to the Securities Services business across the UK and Europe, helping to identify, report and mitigate legal and reputational risks
- Support legal risk management across Securities Services products, including Global Custody, Direct Custody & Clearing, Fund Services, Liquidity Solutions and Alternative Investments/Private Assets
- Provide legal support across a variety of business, regulatory, client and strategic projects, including transaction management and digital asset initiatives
- Monitor and advise on changes in legal, regulatory and market requirements, assessing their impact on the business and advising stakeholders on appropriate actions
- Build strong relationships with business managers, stakeholders and colleagues across Global Legal, providing practical advice, supporting fair customer outcomes and contributing to the effective operation of financial markets.
To be successful in this role you should meet the following requirements:
- Qualified lawyer with relevant legal experience within Securities Services
- Strong knowledge and experience of at least two relevant Securities Services products, with direct experience across the product areas covered by the role.
- Relevant regulatory experience and an understanding of legal and regulatory environment affecting financial services and the ability to advise on regulatory and business change
- Be a curious and systematic thinker, with the ability to ask the right questions, understand complex issues and approach problems in a structured and analytical way
- Demonstrate strong stakeholder management, ownership and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work collaboratively and independently while providing practical, commercially focused legal advice
