About the role:
We are looking for a dynamic Legal Counsel, with circa 1-4 years PQE, to play a vital role in providing legal support and advice to our organisation as we continue to expand our operations in the UK and internationally. You will work closely with other members of our Legal team and teams across the business to advise on a broad range of legal matters, including arrangements with our commercial partners, corporate transactions and governance initiatives, and help ensure that we continue to comply with relevant laws and regulations in the UK and across international markets.
You’ll have an interest in a varied workload, with strong drafting and negotiating skills, sound commercial judgment, and the ability to balance legal risk with business priorities. You’ll be proactive and hands-on in your approach, happy to get stuck into a broad range of legal work, able to work independently while knowing when to escalate, and capable of building trust with business teams.

In addition, you’ll have a focus on developing and maintaining the legal processes, policies and precedents that underpin our business.

Day to day responsibilities:
- Work with our business teams to draft, review and negotiate a wide range of commercial agreements, and other legal documents with third parties, including our key suppliers and partners, whilst maintaining the processes that underpin them.
- Support with corporate matters including acquisitions, capital raising, group structure and integration projects, international expansion, debt arrangements and employee share schemes.
- Support with governance and investor relations initiatives, including the preparation of board and committee papers and resolutions, updating our cap table and maintaining internal trackers.
- Assist in resolving legal disputes, including working with external counsel when necessary.
- Be a trusted legal advisor to our commercial teams to help establish, maintain, and expand business relationships whilst providing input into new products and initiatives.
- Identify legal risks and propose strategies to mitigate them.
- Support the consideration and implementation of new legal tech tools and the development and maintenance of processes, policies and procedures and standard legal documents.
- Conduct legal research on various topics, including emerging legal issues which may impact our business, and provide recommendations to the legal team and senior management.
- Develop and deliver legal training programmes to internal teams to ensure awareness of legal and regulatory requirements.

Key requirements:
- Ideally, 1-4 years PQE.
- A current practising certificate (qualified in England and Wales is preferred).
- Meaningful and relevant experience either from private practice or in-house.
- Experience gained in a fintech or another fast-paced technology business or internationally would be a bonus, but otherwise you should be able to demonstrate enthusiasm for gaining that experience.
- Solid drafting, reviewing, negotiation and problem-solving skills.
- Solutions-focused attitude, with a commercial-minded risk appetite.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Strong stakeholder and time-management skills, including the ability to manage competing priorities.
