Commercial Tech – Legal Director
Manchester
A national law firm with a significant footprint across the UK is looking to strengthen its Commercial Tech offering in Manchester with a senior hire at Legal Director or Partner Delegate level.
About the opportunity
This firm has one of the largest commercial teams of any firm outside London, and Manchester has been publicly confirmed as a key strategic growth location, backed by record firm wide revenues in the last financial year. The firm is actively building out its Manchester presence across several practice areas, including recent senior lateral hires in IP, retail and commercial litigation, and is now looking to bring the same ambition to its Commercial Tech capability in the city.
The team advises a strong client base spanning software, SaaS, IT outsourcing, digital infrastructure and data driven businesses, with sector focus tying into Manchester's tech, retail and infrastructure economy, a market valued at over £100bn. This is a genuine platform building opportunity for someone who wants to take ownership of growing a practice in one of the firm's priority markets, rather than stepping into an already fully formed team.

The role:
- Advising on commercial technology matters: software licensing, SaaS agreements, outsourcing, data and IT contracts, digital transformation projects
- Acting for clients ranging from high growth tech businesses to larger corporates and public sector bodies on their commercial and technology needs
- Leading business development and profile building for Commercial Tech in the North West
- Working closely with firm leadership on the strategic build out of the Manchester office

About you:
- Strong background in commercial/technology law, ideally with direct experience advising tech sector, SaaS or data driven clients
- Demonstrable track record of business development and growing client relationships
- Ready for a senior leadership step, whether moving up to Partner or bringing an existing following
- Based in, or open to relocating to, the Manchester area
