Legal Executive – New Claims Team

Location: Balfour House, 741 High Road, Finchley, London, N12 0BP

Salary: £25,000 – £26,000 per annum

Job Type: Full-time, office-based

Work Location: In person

About the Role

We are seeking a motivated and organised Legal Assistant to join our newly established New Claims Team.

This role is ideally suited to a recent law graduate or an individual who has recently completed their LPC or SQE 1 and is looking to begin or develop their legal career within a law firm.

You will provide administrative and legal support to the team and play an important role in the initial onboarding and assessment of new housing disrepair claims. You will work closely with solicitors and experienced legal professionals while gaining valuable practical experience in a specialist claims environment.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is keen to develop their legal knowledge, gain hands-on experience, and build a long-term career within the legal sector.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with the onboarding of new housing disrepair claims.
  • Review client information and supporting documentation.
  • Assist with the initial assessment and organisation of new claims.
  • Prepare and process basic legal documents and correspondence.
  • Assist with client onboarding and case opening procedures.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date client and case records.
  • Update case management systems and internal databases.
  • Liaise with clients and internal teams to obtain required information and documentation.
  • Assist solicitors and senior team members with case preparation and administrative tasks.
  • Ensure documents and information are properly organised and recorded.
  • Assist with general administrative duties within the New Claims Team.
  • Follow internal procedures and relevant legal and compliance requirements.
  • Support the team with other tasks as required.

Candidate Requirements

Essential

  • Law degree (LLB) or equivalent legal qualification.
  • Completion of the LPC or SQE 1.
  • Strong attention to detail and organisational skills.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work accurately and efficiently in a busy environment.
  • Good IT and administrative skills.
  • Ability to manage information confidentially and professionally.
  • A genuine interest in developing a career within the legal sector.
  • Willingness to learn and develop knowledge of housing disrepair and litigation.

Desirable

  • Previous legal work experience, placement, internship, or paralegal experience.
  • Previous experience within a law firm or claims environment.
  • Basic knowledge of housing disrepair claims or litigation.
  • Familiarity with legal case management systems.
