Role Overview
In a rapidly evolving technology landscape, legal teams are increasingly at the forefront of innovation and transformation. The Legal Innovation Program Manager will lead the delivery of innovation initiatives across the Legal function, ensuring projects are effectively governed, delivered, and aligned to business objectives.
This role combines project and programme leadership, stakeholder management, and PMO excellence to drive successful outcomes while supporting the continued evolution of legal services.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and oversee the delivery of legal innovation projects and programmes, ensuring outcomes are delivered on time, within scope, and to agreed quality standards.
- Act as a trusted partner to senior stakeholders, translating strategic objectives into actionable plans and delivery roadmaps.
- Establish and maintain project governance, reporting, risk management, resource planning, and change control processes.
- Drive consistency and continuous improvement across PMO frameworks, tools, and delivery practices.
- Track project performance, budgets, dependencies, and risks, ensuring clarity and effective decision-making.
- Coordinate project communications and reporting across partners and project teams.
- Support portfolio planning, prioritisation, and demand management activities.
- Mentor and support colleagues, contributing to capability development and a culture of continuous improvement.
Essential Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Project Management, Technology, Legal Operations, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- Relevant project management certification such as: PRINCE2 Practitioner, PMP, APM PMQ, Agile or Hybrid Delivery certification.

Essential Skills & Experience
- Experience delivering projects and programmes within a structured PMO or project management environment.
- Validated ability to handle complex initiatives involving multiple stakeholders and dependencies.
- Strong understanding of project governance, reporting, assurance, and portfolio management practices.
- Experience handling budgets, forecasts, resources, and project performance.
- Experience working across Agile, Waterfall, and Hybrid delivery methodologies.
- Proficiency with project and reporting tools such as Microsoft Project, Jira, Smartsheet, and Power BI.
- Strong presentation skills, including executive-level reporting and presentations.
Desirable Experience
- Legal tech, legal operations, or legal transformation programmes.
- Portfolio management, or demand management processes.
- Advanced reporting and dashboard development using Power BI or Tableau.
- PMO transformation or continuous improvement initiatives.
- People leadership, coaching, or mentoring experience.
- Experience working within regulated or highly governed environments.
