BuildHer Labs is a London-based venture studio dedicated to supporting women and non-binary founders at every stage, from idea to investor-ready business. The organisation helps founders refine their concepts, stress-test business models, and plan strategic next steps through practical guidance and structured programs.

Role Description

This Legal Intern role is an internship position based in London with a hybrid working model, allowing a mix of on-site collaboration and work from home.

The Legal Intern will support the team with legal research on topics relevant to early-stage ventures, founders, and partnerships, summarising findings into clear, accessible guidance.

Day-to-day responsibilities include:

  • Assisting with legal document preparation and review, such as basic contracts, policies, and internal templates, under supervision from qualified professionals.
  • Helping identify and assess potential legal issues in operations and partnerships, contributing to recommendations for risk mitigation and compliance.
  • Collaborating with team members and community partners.
  • Communicating legal insights in plain language.
  • Helping maintain organised records and documentation for ongoing initiatives.

Qualifications

  • Strong foundation in Law, with ongoing or completed studies in a law degree or equivalent qualification.
  • Ability to support Legal Consulting activities, including research-based guidance and assisting with issue-spotting for founders and venture initiatives.
  • Skills in Legal Document Preparation, such as drafting and reviewing contracts, policies, and standard templates under supervision.
  • Clear and professional Communication skills, with the ability to explain Legal Issues in accessible, gender-neutral, and non-discriminatory language.
  • Attention to detail, strong analytical and research skills, and the ability to work accurately with legal information.
  • Interest in startups, venture building, and supporting diverse founders; prior experience in a legal or commercial environment is beneficial.
  • Capability to work effectively in a hybrid setting, manage time independently, and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team.
