Make your mark for patients

We are looking for a Senior Legal Counsel (Legal Lead Access & External Engagement EU) who is collaborative, pragmatic and strategic to join our European Legal team, based in Europe within our hybrid working model. This role can be based in Brussels (Belgium), Slough (UK) or Madrid (Spain).

About the role

You will provide strategic, practical legal advice for market access, European medicines and patient-focused priorities across the product lifecycle. Acting as a trusted business partner, you will help teams make compliant, ethical and commercially sound decisions supporting launches, commercialization, access and portfolio management in epilepsy, rare diseases and immunology. You will assess risk, recommend clear options and support consistent legal approaches across Europe while contributing to selected cross-border and global initiatives.

Who you'll work with

You will be working in a team that brings together legal colleagues supporting European markets, medicines and patient impact. You will collaborate with senior business leaders and colleagues in Market Access, Medical Affairs, Business Development, regulatory, ethics, compliance, data privacy and global teams. You will also work with country legal leads and external counsel to align advice, manage risk and share knowledge across markets.

What you'll do

  • Provide independent, strategic legal advice across market access, commercialization and portfolio activities, clearly explaining risks, options and recommendations.
  • Support medicine launches, pricing, reimbursement, access initiatives, lifecycle planning and end-of-life strategies across Europe.
  • Advise on promotional materials, public communications, patient engagement, digital initiatives, medical education, scientific exchange and interactions with healthcare communities.
  • Guide teams on competition law, advertising rules, anti-bribery requirements, data privacy and other relevant European legal and compliance matters.
  • Draft, review and negotiate commercial and strategic agreements, and coordinate disputes, investigations, litigation and external counsel when required.
  • Contribute legal insight to European rare disease leadership discussions and advise on the positioning of medicines across key therapeutic portfolios.
  • Review market access business plans, identify legal and compliance considerations, and raise questions or material risks with clear recommended next steps.
  • Build market access knowledge, monitor legal and enforcement developments, and contribute to training and knowledge sharing across the legal community.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
