INTERNAL VACANCY

We have a rare opportunity for a Legal Officer to join our Court Team. In this role you will predominantly support the work of the litigation mini team who provide legal representation, advice and assistance to the housing and prosecution departments within the council.

This post holder will work primarily on housing disrepair. However, there will also be opportunities to develop your skills with work across the court team. This is a busy and supportive team who carry out work with significant impact for some of the city’s most vulnerable residents. It presents candidates with a genuine opportunity to make a difference.

If you have a law degree, a CILEX qualification, are a solicitor or barrister or are working towards any of these qualifications, and you have experience or demonstrable commitment to legal work in one of the above areas we would be delighted to hear from you.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
