The work you will be doing
We are seeking a Senior Legal Technologist with strong HighQ experience to join a leading UK law firm. This role will support the design, configuration and adoption of legal technology solutions that improve client collaboration, matter delivery, workflow efficiency and reporting.
You will work closely with partners, lawyers, legal operations, knowledge management, IT and clients to gather requirements, build HighQ sites and portals, configure workflows and dashboards, and support technology-enabled legal service delivery.
The successful candidate will bring hands-on HighQ administration and solution design experience, strong stakeholder management skills and a practical understanding of legal service delivery. Experience with HighQ, Publisher, forms, workflow automation, permissions, dashboards, Microsoft 365 and wider legal technology platforms would be highly advantageous.
Main Responsibilities

Design, configure and implement HighQ sites, client portals, matter workspaces and collaboration platforms.

Develop workflow-enabled solutions using HighQ forms, tasks, notifications, alerts and automation capabilities.

Configure permissions, groups, access models, governance controls and security settings in line with firm policy.

Create dashboards, reporting views and management information to support matter delivery and client transparency.

Maintain HighQ development standards, reusable templates, site structures and platform documentation.

Support HighQ troubleshooting, enhancement requests, user queries and continuous improvement activity.

Gather requirements from legal teams and translate legal or operational needs into practical technology solutions.

Support implementation of legal technology tools across practice groups and client teams.

Contribute to solution design for document automation, workflow automation, contract lifecycle management, collaboration platforms, knowledge solutions, AI tools and matter management technologies.

Work with IT, information security and third party vendors to ensure solutions are secure, scalable and supportable.

Test, iterate and document solutions before and after launch.

Identify opportunities to improve legal service delivery through better use of technology, data and automation.

Support innovation pilots, proof-of-concept projects and client-facing technology demonstrations.

Deliver user training, guidance materials, quick reference guides and show-and-tell sessions.

Promote adoption by explaining technology benefits in practical, lawyer-friendly and client-focused terms.

Track usage, adoption and value delivered by legal technology solutions.

Facilitate discovery workshops with partners, lawyers, business services teams and clients.

Act as a trusted adviser to legal teams on the use of HighQ and other legal technology platforms.

Support client pitches, panel responses and demonstrations where technology-enabled delivery is a differentiator.

- Prepare clear recommendations, implementation plans and progress updates for senior stakeholders.
- Build confidence in HighQ through practical, commercially aware and lawyer-friendly advice.
- Support HighQ platform governance, administration and housekeeping.
- Maintain documentation, design standards and best practice guidance for HighQ and other legal technology solutions.
- Ensure solutions are aligned with information security, data protection, confidentiality and professional services requirements.
- Monitor platform performance, enhancement requests, risk issues and user feedback.
- Coach and mentor junior legal technologists, innovation analysts or operational colleagues on HighQ design, build and governance standards.
- Develop training materials, playbooks, quick reference guides and show-and-tell content to improve adoption and consistency.
- Promote continuous improvement by capturing lessons learned, user feedback and opportunities for reuse or automation.
- Support the development of a mature, scalable legal technology operating model across the firm
What we are looking for

HighQ Administrator or equivalent platform certification would be highly desirable. Demonstrable hands-on HighQ experience is essential.

Experience in a law firm, legal technology consultancy, alternative legal services provider, in-house legal operations team or professional services environment.

Ability to understand legal processes, define requirements, map user journeys and design practical technology solutions.

Comfortable configuring platforms, testing solutions, documenting builds and working with IT or vendor teams.

Familiarity with legal workflows, matter management, document processes, collaboration models and client service delivery.

Able to plan, prioritise and deliver multiple technology workstreams while managing dependencies and stakeholders.

Strong written and verbal communication, including user guidance, training materials, demos and senior stakeholder updates.

Ability to use reporting and usage information to assess adoption, value and areas for improvement.

Understands law firm economics, client expectations, risk management and the importance of technology-enabled value delivery.
Hybrid Working

This role attracts a split of 60% office days and 40% working from home days per week.
