Legal Project Manager

Central London, Hybrid working
Up to £90,000 + Benefits

The Company

A leading international law firm with offices across the UK, Europe and beyond is seeking an experienced Legal Project Manager to join its expanding legal operations & innovation team. The team combines former lawyers, project specialists and technologists to make legal work more efficient, predictable and transparent for clients. The role offers exposure to complex, high-profile matters and strategic client relationships.

Key Responsibilities of the Legal Project Manager

  • Plan and govern complex matters - Define scope, budgets, timelines and resourcing, and set up governance frameworks, risk registers and communication plans for major matters.
  • Monitor delivery and profitability - Track progress, scope changes, fees and margins, escalating risks where needed and providing insight on matter performance.
  • Lead client reporting and engagement - Run client calls, design reporting and MI, and act on client feedback to improve delivery, communication and value.
  • Support pitches and panel reviews - Work with partners and business development to position project management as a differentiator in pitches, RFPs and panel reviews.
  • Drive process and technology improvement - Refine legal workflows, act as the link between lawyers and technology teams, and contribute to firm-wide LPM frameworks and training.

Skills & Attributes of the Legal Project Manager

  • Legal project management expertise - Demonstrable project or legal project management experience within a law firm, professional services or similarly complex environment.
  • Understanding of law firm economics - A strong grasp of legal service delivery, pricing and the drivers of matter profitability.
  • Legal technology and AI knowledge - Practical exposure to legal technology and AI, alongside experience of legal operations, process improvement and change management.
  • Credible stakeholder communicator - Excellent communication skills, with the confidence to work effectively with partners, senior stakeholders and clients.
  • Analytical and client-centric mindset - Confident using data to inform decisions, with a pragmatic and resilient approach in a fast-paced environment.
