Legal Secretary – Wills & Probate
Charles Newton & Co Solicitors are currently seeking to recruit a Legal Secretary to work in our busy wills and probate department based at our Ilkeston office.

Your Role
- Welcome clients in person and over the phone, ensuring they feel comfortable and valued from the very first interaction.
- Manage incoming calls, emails, and correspondence, passing on accurate messages promptly.
- Type letters, wills, and forms related to Wills, Probate, and Estate Administration with accuracy and attention to detail.
- Schedule appointments and manage diaries for fee-earning staff.
- Liaise with clients and fee earners.
Essential Requirements
- Previous experience as a secretary, or professional office environment (legal experience in Wills & Probate preferred, but not essential)
- Proficient with audio typing
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to handle sensitive matters with empathy and discretion.
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel) and confidence in learning case management systems.
- A calm professional manner, presentable appearance, and the ability to prioritize in a busy environment.
