Legal Secretary – Wills & Probate

Charles Newton & Co Solicitors are currently seeking to recruit a Legal Secretary to work in our busy wills and probate department based at our Ilkeston office.

Your Role

  • Welcome clients in person and over the phone, ensuring they feel comfortable and valued from the very first interaction.
  • Manage incoming calls, emails, and correspondence, passing on accurate messages promptly.
  • Type letters, wills, and forms related to Wills, Probate, and Estate Administration with accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Schedule appointments and manage diaries for fee-earning staff.
  • Liaise with clients and fee earners.

Essential Requirements

  • Previous experience as a secretary, or professional office environment (legal experience in Wills & Probate preferred, but not essential)
  • Proficient with audio typing
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to handle sensitive matters with empathy and discretion.
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel) and confidence in learning case management systems.
  • A calm professional manner, presentable appearance, and the ability to prioritize in a busy environment.
