Dean Vickery Legal Services is a client-focused family law practice led by a highly experienced solicitor with over 20 years of advocacy and courtroom experience. The firm provides discreet, out-of-hours legal services, enabling busy clients to access urgent advice and representation seven days a week, including evenings and weekends. The practice handles a wide range of matters, from straightforward divorces to complex financial disputes, Children Act cases, Prohibited Steps, Leave to Remove from the Jurisdiction, and Hague Convention cases, serving clients from diverse backgrounds, including high-net-worth individuals. Dean Vickery Legal Services is committed to supporting people through difficult times and undertakes a limited amount of pro bono work to assist those who are less well-off. Clients benefit from direct, personalised service and timely support when legal issues arise unexpectedly.
Role Description
The Legal Secretary role at Dean Vickery Legal Services is primarily a work-from-home position, although living within commuting distance of Cardiff is a must, as there may be times when traveling to the office will be required.

The Legal Secretary will support the solicitor in day-to-day operations, including:
- Preparing and formatting legal documents
- Proofreading
- Managing case files
- Maintaining accurate records
Responsibilities include:
- Handling incoming and outgoing correspondence
- Answering phone calls
- Scheduling appointments
- Managing diaries to accommodate out-of-hours client meetings
The role also involves:
- Organising court bundles
- Assisting with document filing
- Ensuring that client information is handled confidentially and professionally
The role also includes billing, so an understanding of Court Portal is important.
Qualifications
- Strong foundation in Law and experience supporting legal professionals or Legal Assistants.
- Proficiency in Legal Document Preparation, including drafting, formatting, and proofreading legal correspondence and court documents.
- Solid Clerical Skills, including filing, data entry, record management, and handling confidential information with care.
- Effective Diary Management abilities, including scheduling client appointments, court dates, and managing an out-of-hours timetable.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a professional telephone manner and client service focus.
- Strong organisational and time-management skills, with attention to detail and the ability to prioritise multiple tasks.
- Competence in common office software (word processing, spreadsheets, email) and familiarity with legal case management systems is an advantage.
- Previous experience in family law or a legal practice setting is desirable; relevant certification or training in legal administration is beneficial.
