About the Role

The Legal Solutions Assistant plays a key role in supporting the delivery of efficient, commercially focused legal services across the business. Working as part of a small in-house legal team, the role combines legal support, legal operations, contract management, technology utilization and process improvement. This role will assist with the management of contracts and other legal records, team compliance activities and legal workflows whilst leveraging legal technology, AI tools and automation solutions to improve efficiency and service delivery.

This role is suited to an organised and technologically capable individual who is interested in legal operations, legal technology and the practical application of law in a commercial environment.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the intake, triage and tracking of legal requests.
  • Support the legal team throughout the contract lifecycle, including preparation, review, execution and storage of agreements.
  • Assist with contract renewals, expiries, notice periods and key contractual obligations.
  • Prepare first drafts of standard legal documents, templates and correspondence using approved precedents.
  • Conduct legal and commercial research to support the legal team.
  • Act as a super-user for the team's legal AI contract life cycle system technology platforms and document management systems and processes.
  • Produce management information, metrics and reporting on legal team performance, workload and contract activity.
  • Utilise approved AI tools to assist with document review, contract analysis, legal research and information management.
  • Identify opportunities to automate repetitive legal tasks through AI, workflow automation and/or digital tools.
  • Support testing, implementation and adoption of new legal technology solutions.
  • Provide first line support and training to stakeholders on the team's legal AI contract life cycle system and other legal team technology solutions.
  • Triage incoming claims, complaints, legal correspondence and potential disputes, ensuring matters are logged, prioritised and escalated appropriately.

What you'll need

Knowledge & Qualifications

  • Good standard of education with GSCE English and Math or equivalent (Grade C equivalent or higher)
  • Understanding of data protection and information governance principles (*)
  • Legal operations, project management or process improvement professional qualification (*)

Skills

  • Ability to confidently and clearly communicate with colleagues, customers and external stakeholders in both written and verbal
  • Strong organisational and project management skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to break down processes and identify improvements
  • Demonstrable ability to proactively manage competing priorities and deadlines, and to keep work moving forward effectively
  • Ability to be adaptive in a team where responsibilities and process frequently change.
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills, particularly Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
  • Excellent organisational skills, including efficient mailbox management and the ability to work to deadlines.

Experience

  • Experience supporting contract management processes.
  • Experience using AI tools and technology effectively and responsibly in a professional environment
  • Experience supporting dispute resolution, claims handling, litigation, regulatory investigations or similar case management activities.
  • Experience organizing large volumes of documents and files with strong attention to detail.
  • Solid experience of analysing and improving legal processes, particularly through the use of technology tools and automation.
  • Experience working within an in-house legal team, legal operations function, compliance team or similar professional services environment (*)
  • Legal Assistant, Paralegal or Legal Operations experience (*)
  • Experience working within a regulated industry (*)
  • Experience using contract lifecycle management systems (*)
  • Experience with workflow automation tools such as Microsoft Power Automate (*)
  • Experience using legal AI platforms for contract review or legal research (*)
