Job Description: Legal Supervisor - Residential Conveyancing
Reporting to:
Technical Property Director
Purpose:
This role will support the day-to-day supervision of our consultants and sub-consultants in line with the business's supervision policy. The role will assist consultants as they transition into the firm, ensuring they follow our policies and procedures, and will then focus on building relationships with the consultants in their team to provide ongoing supervision and support. This includes carrying out regular file reviews to ensure ongoing compliance, identify any areas of risk, and identify any training and development needs. This is a vital role in providing safeguards to the firm through effective risk management.
This is a great opportunity for an experienced candidate to put their property experience to use as a point of technical escalation for consultants, supported by the Technical Property Director and Property Legal Heads. The role involves supervising and engaging with consultants, working with a variety of different teams within the firm, and delivering against one of the firm's key strategic areas of the business.
Key Responsibilities:
- Working with the Technical Property Director to provide support and guidance to consultants/sub-consultants in relation to the policies and practices within the Taylor Rose residential conveyancing department.
- Taking part in inductions (where required).
- Providing training on firm policies and procedures to consultants and sub-consultants as applicable.
- Being the initial point of contact for any day-to-day issues, queries, or technical questions arising from their allocated consultants.
- Reviewing source of funds checks for residential property consultants/sub-consultants.
- Monitoring file levels, account balances, and dormant files, and liaising with the respective consultant/sub-consultant on the action to be taken — ensuring follow-up is undertaken and appropriate actions completed.
- Assisting with the leaver procedure for consultants/sub-consultants as necessary, ensuring all files are accounted for and reallocated where necessary. Liaising with the leaving consultant/sub-consultant, accounts, consultant liaison team, post-completion team, and other areas of the business as appropriate.
- Undertaking file reviews for their allocated consultants, including High Value Transaction reviews when required.
- Ensuring their allocated consultants comply with their obligations regarding sub-consultants (file reviews, supervision meetings, etc.).
- Keeping up-to-date records of contact and meetings to ensure accurate supervision logs.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.
