POSITION OVERVIEW
The Legal Technologist will be an integral part of the legal team embedded within the Legal / Product Development teams. They will have the opportunity to engage in day-to-day group activities, including group meetings, training sessions, and other resources alongside both legal team members and software developers, ensuring continuous growth and development of their technical and legal expertise.
The Legal Technologist will play a key role in supporting private investment fund operations at customer law firms by managing and enhancing the company’s legal technology platform. This includes observing meetings with prospective and existing customers to demonstrate the platform, gathering feedback, and scoping new feature requests. They will work closely with software development teams to prioritize and manage customer requests, as well as test new features and resolve bug fixes. The role also involves preparing analytics and summarizing platform insights, drafting, and distributing release notes for each platform version.
Legal Technologists will also have opportunities to support the internal legal team in providing in-house corporate and commercial legal assistance when required. The Legal Technologist will report directly to the Customer Success Manager for whom the Legal Technologist will have the opportunity to carry out a number of know-how and group management related tasks that will further develop the Legal Technologist’s knowledge and skills base. Legal Technologists are encouraged to take initiative and may evolve into internal experts on the legal tech platform, and begin building experience in working on future products.
The individual must have good academic qualifications (including a recognized Law degree or the GDL), be highly motivated, professional in demeanor, organized, and adaptable. Ideal candidates would have a keen interest in legal technology and substantive legal work experience, particularly those who have hands-on experience in private investment fund operations. The ideal candidate must demonstrate strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships among lawyers (internal and external), knowledge management and innovation teams, and internal software developers. The position will involve significant daily contact by email and telephone with legal/innovation contacts at client law firms, and the individual must consider that to be a significant positive. Strong project management and sound judgment skills are necessary. Must be numerate and proficient in MS Word, MS PowerPoint, and MS Excel. Familiarity with basic coding or scripting (e.g., Python, VBA, or similar) to support workflow automation and data management is desirable.

The Legal Technologist will work closely with our customers and, given that many of our customers are US-based, there may occasionally be late evening calls, for which overtime or time in lieu will be granted.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
This list is not exhaustive and may be supplemented and changed as necessary.
- Works with senior leadership in a product management role including monitoring and tracking the progress of customer requests and feature developments, collating feedback from prospective and existing customers, and coordinating updates to ensure users are kept informed about platform enhancements.
- Liaises with customer legal and innovation teams.
- Reviews customer requests and identifies follow-up requirements.
- Manages timelines to ensure software development teams are aware of deadlines for feature delivery.
- Assists with testing new features and bug fixes.
- Participates in prototyping of new features for internal and external teams and gathers feedback.
- Prepares regular analytics for customers and summarizes platform reports into clear insights.
- Drafts and distributes release notes for each platform version.
- Assists in maintaining and updating customer acquisition tracking.
- Assists in-house legal with commercial contract review, employment contract review, NDA review, and general corporate matters, including fundraising and investor relations.
- Assists Product Management teams with development and maintenance of know-how materials in relation to client customizations and requests.
- Attends group meetings and training sessions.
- Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS
Education, Work Experience, Skills
- Candidates should have gained a recognized Law degree or the GDL.
- Extensive experience utilizing legal technology in transaction management.
- Substantive legal work experience in private investment funds.
- Strong analytical, detail orientation, and organizational skills are essential.
- Interpersonal skills are key, in order to communicate and follow instructions effectively from a diverse group of customers to provide information with professionalism, courtesy, and tact.
- The nature of the work may require the individual to be willing and flexible to work longer hours at short notice to perform the essential duties of the position.
- Ability to work effectively and efficiently with co-workers; work as a team to accomplish tasks and produce final work product.
- Ability to maintain positive contact with customers, senior leadership, and software development teams and observes confidentiality of client matters.
- Ability to use initiative, anticipate needs, act without direction, ask questions, and take responsibility for tasks.
- Ability to organize and prioritize numerous tasks and complete them accurately and thoroughly under time constraints.
- Willing to seek challenges, take over difficult or unconventional projects, and be able to take on projects at any stage.
