Role Description

This is a full-time, on-site Legal Training Contract role based in Oldham. The trainee will assist with legal research, drafting and preparing legal documents, and supporting solicitors in case preparation and file management. Daily tasks include communicating with clients and third parties, attending client meetings, and observing court or tribunal proceedings where appropriate. The role involves reviewing case files, identifying key legal issues, and ensuring that documentation is accurate, compliant, and well-organized. The trainee will rotate through different practice areas to gain broad experience and will receive supervision, feedback, and structured training to develop toward qualification.

Qualifications

  • Strong foundation in Law, with an understanding of core legal principles and procedure.
  • Ability to handle Legal Issues and provide support in Legal Consulting under supervision.
  • Competence in Legal Document Preparation, including drafting, reviewing, and organizing documentation.
  • Effective Communication skills, both written and verbal, for interacting with clients, colleagues, and external parties.
  • Relevant academic qualifications (e.g., law degree or conversion course), with intention to qualify as a solicitor.
  • Attention to detail, strong analytical skills, and the ability to manage time and multiple tasks effectively.
  • Professional, ethical approach to client service and confidentiality.
  • Willingness to learn, take feedback, and work collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Litigation or housing legal experience.
  • Worked in a law firm for a minimum of 12 months.
