At SMS Environmental, we're a UKAS-accredited water hygiene specialist supporting organisations across the UK to manage Legionella risks and maintain compliance. We're growing our Risk Assessment team and are looking for an experienced assessor to join us.

The Role
You'll carry out Legionella Risk Assessments across a wide range of client sites throughout London and the South East, with occasional travel elsewhere in the UK. Working independently in the field, you'll assess water systems, identify risks, and provide clear, practical recommendations to help clients remain compliant and safe.
Key responsibilities include:
- Carrying out Legionella Risk Assessments across multiple site types
- Assessing hot and cold water systems and associated infrastructure
- Identifying and evaluating Legionella risks
- Producing professional technical reports
- Recommending remedial actions and control measures
- Communicating findings with clients and stakeholders
- Working in line with ACoP L8, HSG274 Part 2 and BS 8580-1
- Maintaining high standards within our UKAS-accredited quality framework
What We're Looking For
Essential
- Previous experience as a Legionella Risk Assessor
- Strong knowledge of water systems and Legionella control
- Experience working to ACoP L8, HSG274 and BS 8580-1
- Ability to produce clear, accurate technical reports
- Strong communication and client-facing skills
- Experience using digital reporting systems
- Full UK driving licence

Desirable
- BOHS, City & Guilds, WMSoc or equivalent Legionella Risk Assessor qualification
- Background in water hygiene, water treatment, engineering or building services
- Experience working within a UKAS-accredited environment
If you're experienced but not yet qualified, we can support you with further training and certification.
