Purpose of the Role
We are recruiting a Legionella Technician to join our water hygiene team, working primarily on our contract with Lincolnshire Hospital Trust. This role is open to applicants at any stage of their career — whether you are completely new to water hygiene and looking to learn a trade from scratch, or you already have some relevant experience. No prior legionella or water hygiene knowledge is required: full training will be given, and we will support the right candidate every step of the way.
The role involves carrying out water system inspections, temperature monitoring, and remedial tasks across Lincolnshire Hospital Trust sites, in line with L8 (ACOP), HSG274, and HTM04-01 guidance. Healthcare settings carry additional compliance and infection-control considerations, and full guidance on working within an NHS Trust environment will be provided as part of training.
Key Responsibilities
Day-to-day, the role involves carrying out a monthly programme of water hygiene monitoring and inspection tasks across Lincolnshire Hospital Trust sites, and reporting findings accurately. Core tasks include:
- Flushing of little-used or infrequently-used outlets.
- Temperature monitoring of hot and cold water systems.
- Shower head cleaning and disinfection.
- Water storage tank inspections.
- Calorifier inspections.
- Taking water samples for legionella and other analysis, and arranging their submission to the laboratory.
- Servicing, testing, and failsafe checks of thermostatic mixing valves (TMVs).
- Identifying gaps or shortfalls in the legionella control regime and flagging non-conformities, with guidance on appropriate remedial action.
- Escalating high-risk findings or repeated non-conformities in line with company procedures.
- Completing accurate service visit reports and keeping site logbooks up to date and well organised.
- Providing daily updates to HQ on completed service visits.
- Planning and organising your own diary and visit schedule to ensure consistent, on-time completion of tasks.
- Working safely and professionally on Trust premises and other client sites, including any NHS site-access and compliance requirements.
- Building practical knowledge of ACOP L8, HSG274, and HTM04-01 through training and on-the-job experience.
- Progressing towards greater independence and responsibility as skills and confidence grow.

Training & Development
Full training will be provided from day one — no experience is required to apply. Training will include:
- Structured on-the-job coaching from experienced technicians and assessors.
- Formal, accredited water hygiene / legionella awareness training.
- Health & safety training relevant to site-based work (e.g. CSCS, working at height, as required).
If you already have relevant experience, we will build training around what you already know rather than starting from zero — but this role is genuinely open to candidates with no background in the field.
Salary
£28,000 per annum. This rate applies to all successful applicants for this role, regardless of prior experience; it reflects the fact that full training and support is provided.
Working Conditions
- Role is based in Lincolnshire, primarily supporting our contract with Lincolnshire Hospital Trust, with day travel between Trust sites across the county.
- No overnight stays away from home are required for this role.
- All travel and subsistence costs incurred in the course of duty will be met in line with company expenses policy.
- Appropriate PPE, DBS check, and any NHS/Trust site-access training or clearance required will be provided or arranged by the company.

About the role
We are looking for a Legionella Technician to join our growing Water Hygiene team, supporting our contract with Lincolnshire Hospital Trust across multiple sites throughout the county.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to start a career in water hygiene, as well as candidates who already have relevant experience. No previous legionella or water hygiene experience is required, as full training and ongoing support will be provided from day one.
Working across healthcare environments, you'll help ensure water systems remain safe and compliant through planned monitoring, inspections and maintenance activities. As a Legionella Technician, your responsibilities will include:
- Carrying out temperature monitoring of hot and cold water systems

- Collecting water samples for laboratory analysis
- Performing Thermostatic Mixing Valve (TMV) inspections and testing

- Planning and managing your daily site visits across Lincolnshire
- Working safely and professionally within NHS healthcare environments
