Description: Full and Part Time / 37 Hours Per Week / Permanent
Would you like to work in one of our fantastic leisure centres across Leicester city? We are looking for qualified lifeguards to become a valued member of our dynamic sports service.
Working for Active Leicester we encompass all sports in the city. We have seven leisure centres with swimming pools and gyms; one climbing wall; one athletics track; one golf facility and several dedicated football pitches. Our pools are available to all, regardless of age or ability. We run adult and children lessons, pool exercise classes and public swimming sessions.
With increased investment and refurbishments, we are looking for lifeguards to join our growing teams on a permanent basis.
Shift Pattern
You will be required to work on a shift pattern which will include Early, Evenings and Weekends. Our leisure centres are typically open 6am - 10pm. You will be required to be flexible across these times.

- Braunstone Leisure Centre – 37 Hours Per Week.
- Aylestone Leisure Centre - 11 Hours Per Week
- Leicester Leys Leisure Centre - 37 Hours Per Week
- Spence Street Sports Centre - 17 Hours Per Week (hours below)

Tuesday 16:00-21:00 5 hours
Thursday 16:00 -21:00 5 hours
Saturday 08:00 - 15:30 7 hours
Spence Street Sports Centre - 21 Hours Per Week (hours below)
Monday 14:00 - 21:00 6.5 hours
Wednesday 14:00 - 21:30 7 hours
Sunday 08:00 - 16:00 7.5 hours
To deliver these particular sessions at Spence Street (21 Hour post), due to a genuine occupational requirement there is a need to have female applicants only for ladies only pool sessions.
What You’ll Be Doing
You’ll assist with the day to day running of the facility, providing the highest standard of customer service whilst ensuring the health and safety of customers. This will include being responsible for pool supervision ensuring bathers are safe and follow rules to prevent accidents and vandalism. You’ll be responsible for remedial cleaning of the building and will be required to set up and take down equipment for activities. As a strong swimmer, you’ll respond to pool emergencies.
What You’ll Need
You’ll already hold the NPLQ ready to start the role. For those candidates who are successful after the swim test/interview and are committed to working. You’ll be given one to one support and training to ensure you have a positive experience and achieve your full potential.
