The Role
As Leisure Manager, you will be the operational face of the leisure department, leading the day-to-day experience across the gym floor, studios, pool and padel facilities. You will drive service excellence, team performance, member engagement and commercial success while ensuring the club consistently delivers a luxury 5-star experience. This role requires a highly visible leader with exceptional standards, strong people management skills and a passion for health, fitness and wellbeing.
Leisure Operations & Member Experience
- Lead and oversee the daily operation of all leisure areas including the gym floor, studios, swimming pool and padel courts.
- Act as the visible ambassador and owner of the leisure experience within the club.
- Deliver exceptional member and guest experiences through outstanding service standards and operational excellence.
- Ensure all leisure facilities are maintained to impeccable 5-star presentation and cleanliness standards at all times.
- Develop and implement innovative fitness and wellbeing programmes designed to increase engagement, occupancy and member satisfaction.
- Manage and promote a dynamic timetable across gym, studio and padel offerings, ensuring strong participation and utilisation levels.
- Organise regular health and wellbeing campaigns, activation days and member events that position Hale Country Club & Spa as a leader within the wellness sector.
- Enforce leisure policies and gym floor etiquette to maintain a safe, professional and enjoyable environment for all members.
- Maintain full responsibility for Health & Safety compliance across all leisure facilities.

Team Leadership & Development
- Lead, motivate and develop the leisure team, including Gym Assistants and Lifeguards.
- Ensure all team members consistently deliver service aligned with luxury hospitality and 5-star standards.
- Manage and support freelance and specialist partners including Personal Trainers, Studio Coordinators and Padel Coaches.
- Ensure all freelance teams operate in line with club expectations, brand standards and contractual responsibilities.
- Drive a culture of expertise in health and wellbeing across the team.
- Deliver ongoing training and coaching to both employed and freelance teams, including product knowledge and member engagement initiatives.
- Collaborate with wider club departments to encourage cross-functional member experiences, including nutrition and wellbeing offerings.
Commercial Performance & Revenue Growth
- Drive padel court occupancy and achieve associated revenue targets.
- Maximise secondary spend opportunities across leisure operations.
- Monitor and improve class occupancy, utilisation and member retention performance.
- Support the commercial success of Personal Training and wellness services.
- Analyse operational performance and member feedback to identify opportunities for growth and continuous improvement.
Essential Skills & Experience

- Proven experience in a leisure, fitness or wellness management role within a premium or luxury environment.
- Strong leadership and people management skills with the ability to inspire high-performing teams.
- Passion for health, fitness and wellbeing with excellent industry knowledge.
- Commercially aware with experience driving revenue, occupancy and member retention.
- Exceptional customer service and communication skills.
- Strong operational and organisational abilities with excellent attention to detail.
- Knowledge of Health & Safety and leisure compliance standards.
Desirable
- Experience within a luxury hotel, spa or private members club environment.
- Fitness industry qualifications and/or leisure management certifications.
- Experience managing freelance fitness professionals and third-party operators.
