Lettings Officer
Career Grade 6–7
Build your career in Housing Lettings – with a clear route for progression.
This is a career-grade opportunity for someone with strong customer-service, organisational and problem-solving skills who wants to develop a career in Housing.
You’ll normally join at Grade 6, doing real lettings work from the start while developing your knowledge of Council tenancies, lettings, voids and related Housing processes. As you demonstrate the knowledge, competence and independence required for the full role, you can progress to Grade 7.
The role
You’ll help make sure Council homes are let quickly, accurately and with a good experience for new tenants.
You’ll arrange and carry out tenancy sign-ups, explain the main terms and responsibilities of a Council tenancy, check identity and occupancy information and act as a key point of contact for new tenants during the letting process.
You’ll also work closely with Allocations, Voids, Repairs, Income and Tenancy teams to progress vacant properties, minimise delays and rent loss and resolve issues that could prevent a successful letting. The role also includes mutual exchanges, tenancy records, rent account activity and other day-to-day lettings work.
What we’re looking for
For Grade 6, you don’t need to already be a lettings expert. We’re looking for someone who can:
- provide a responsive and sensitive service to customers;
- communicate clearly and explain information in plain English;
- organise and prioritise a varied workload;
- identify problems and take action to resolve them;
- build good working relationships with residents and colleagues;
- maintain accurate records and use digital systems confidently; and
- learn and apply Housing lettings, tenancy and void processes.
Reasons to use Rodeo
I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
