Baskerville School
Due to our ever-changing cohort and extension, Baskerville School is seeking 15 dedicated and dynamic Teaching Assistants to join our committed and supportive team.
We are looking for enthusiastic and dynamic Teaching Assistants to join our popular and ambitious school. We are particularly looking for applicants who are keen to work with students with Autism/SLD and complex Autism.

Key Responsibilities
- Support the class teacher and the school to ensure curriculum objectives are met in line with the job description and personnel spec.
What We’re Looking For
- A passionate and committed educational professional
- Level 2 Teaching Assistant Qualification
- Experience in working with pupils with additional needs (SEN experience highly desirable)

Baskerville School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.
This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and the amendments to the Exceptions Order 1975, 2013 and 2020. An enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check along with a Children's Barred List check will be required for this role.
Other checks will include:
- Identity Verification
- Confirming the candidate is who they claim to be using official photo ID (passport or driving licence), proof of address, and birth certificate.

- Legal verification ensuring the individual is eligible to be employed in the UK.
- Prohibition from Teaching
- Legal verification ensuring the individual is eligible to be employed in the UK.
- Section 128 Direction
- Required for individuals taking up management positions, including governors and trust members, checking they are not prohibited from managing an independent school, academy, or free school.
- References
- At least two satisfactory written references are required, usually including the most recent employer and any past school/childcare settings.
- Employment History
- Obtaining a full employment history and thoroughly investigating any gaps or unusual frequent changes in jobs.
- Overseas Checks
- For candidates who have lived or worked outside the UK, a certificate of good conduct or equivalent local criminal record check may be required.
- Medical Fitness
- A work health assessment to confirm physical and mental capability to carry out the duties of the role.
- Qualifications
- Verifying original certificates for essential qualifications (for example Qualified Teacher Status or specific degrees).
- Online Searches
- As part of the safer recruitment shortlisting process, checking publicly available online information (such as open social media and news articles) to identify anything that might indicate a safeguarding risk.
