Company Description
Calypso Clubs provides childcare, sports and activity programmes for children across London. Our Extended Hours provision at Gillespie Primary School provides a safe, welcoming and enjoyable environment for children at the end of the school day.
Children have opportunities for free play, creative activities, games, outdoor play and organised activities, as well as a snack and evening meal. We aim to create a relaxed environment where children can have fun, spend time with friends and feel at home after a busy school day.
Role Description
We are looking for a Level 3 Childcare Practitioner to join our Extended Hours team at Gillespie Primary School in Islington.
This is a part-time, term-time role working Monday to Friday, 3:00pm to 6:00pm.
You will work alongside our Extended Hours Manager and childcare team to provide a safe, fun and engaging after-school environment for children across the primary age range, including children within the EYFS.

Day-to-day Responsibilities Include:
- Collecting children from their classrooms at the end of the school day
- Supervising and engaging with children throughout the session
- Setting up and leading games, crafts and other activities
- Supporting child-led play and encouraging children to choose how they spend their time
- Supporting snack and mealtimes
- Promoting positive behaviour, friendships and inclusion
- Supporting children with additional needs
- Maintaining accurate registers and following collection procedures
- Communicating with parents, carers and school staff
- Following safeguarding, health and safety and club procedures
- Working with the wider team to develop activities and continually improve the provision
Qualifications
- Level 3 Early Years/Childcare qualification that is full and relevant for EYFS
- Experience working directly with children
- Good understanding of child development and the needs of children within the EYFS
- Knowledge of safeguarding and child protection
- Confident managing and engaging groups of children
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Reliable, organised and able to work effectively as part of a team
- Experience in wraparound childcare, schools, nurseries, holiday clubs or similar settings is desirable
- Paediatric First Aid and safeguarding training are desirable, although training can be provided

The successful candidate will be required to complete an Enhanced DBS check, references, Right to Work checks and qualification verification as part of our safer recruitment process.
Job Details
- Hours: Monday to Friday, 3:00pm to 6:00pm
- Contract: Part-time, term time only
- Location: Gillespie Primary School, Islington, London
- Pay: £22 per hour
Additional hours may also be available across our breakfast clubs, holiday camps and other childcare programmes.
