Join Sunny Cloud Childminding as a Level 3 Early Years Educator Apprentice
Gain hands-on experience supporting children’s learning, play, routines and well-being in a warm home-based setting, while working towards your recognised qualification with support from an experienced childminder.
Wage:
£11,232 for your first year, then could increase depending on your age (National Minimum Wage rate for apprentices). Pay will be reviewed following a successful six-month probation period and every six months thereafter. Pay increases will be considered based on performance, progress, development and responsibilities within the setting. We value our team and want to reward commitment and high-quality work.

Hours:
Initially three days per week, 8am to 5pm. Working days can be agreed with the successful applicant. Following a successful six-month probation period and subject to business needs, there will be an opportunity to increase to full-time hours. 27 hours a week

What you'll do at work
- Support children’s learning, play and development through planned activities
- Help with daily routines, including meals, sleep, outdoor play and personal care
- Keep children safe by following safeguarding, health and safety and hygiene procedures
- Observe children’s progress and help complete learning observations
- Build positive relationships with children, parents and the childminder
- Prepare activities, resources and learning areas, and help keep the setting clean and organised
- Work as part of a small, supportive team and develop confidence in early years practice

What you'll learn
Course contents include safeguarding, health and safety, risk assessment, communication, building relationships, key person responsibilities, attachment theories, personal care, advocacy for children's needs, interpersonal communication, identity and culture, understanding and responding to emotions, assessing and creating inclusive environments, managing change, and developing professional reflection.
Training schedule
Training will take place at Sunny Cloud Childminding through practical workplace learning, online learning and off-the-job training time. A tutor from Busy Bees Education and Training will visit the setting regularly to support and assess the apprentice’s progress.
Desirable qualifications:
GCSE in: English (grade 4/C or equivalent), Maths (grade 4/C or equivalent). Share if you have other relevant qualifications and industry experience. The apprenticeship can be adjusted to reflect what you already know.

Communication skills, IT skills, Attention to detail, Organisation skills, Team working, Creative, Initiative, Non judgemental, Patience, Willingness to learn.
Other requirements:
Successful applicants will be required to complete an enhanced DBS check and join the DBS Update Service. You must be willing to obtain a Paediatric First Aid certificate. You will need to register as a childminding assistant with Suffolk Childcare Agency (SCA) and complete their required checks and health declaration. Two satisfactory references will be required. All requirements must be completed before working unsupervised with children.

Your earnings can increase over time with an apprenticeship. After successfully completing the apprenticeship, there may be opportunities to increase working hours and progress into a longer-term Early Years Educator/Childminding Assistant role within Sunny Cloud Childminding, subject to performance and the needs of the setting. Further training and professional development will be encouraged.
