Level 3 Infrastructure Engineer / Consultant - 9 month contract - 1 day a week in Milton Keynes - ASAP Start
We are looking for an experienced Level 3 Infrastructure Engineer / Consultant to support a major technology transformation across a complex hybrid cloud and on-premise environment. You will take ownership of understanding and documenting the existing estate, defining the future infrastructure roadmap and helping deliver the transformation. Alongside this, you will provide senior-level BAU support to improve the stability and resilience of the current environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead technical discovery across the existing cloud and on-premise estate.
- Document current systems, architecture, dependencies and services.
- Define retain, replatform, migrate and retire pathways across the environment.
- Develop infrastructure roadmaps and produce HLDs and LLDs.
- Provide technical input into business cases, costs and transformation planning.
- Design and deliver infrastructure improvements across Azure, AWS and on-premise environments.
- Support cloud migrations, platform rebuilds and legacy infrastructure remediation.
- Provide Level 3 BAU support, root-cause analysis and environment stabilisation.
- Improve resilience, business continuity and operational maturity.
- Support the transition of BAU infrastructure into a future managed service model.

Essential Skills & Experience
- Senior L3 Infrastructure Engineering / Infrastructure Consultancy experience.
- Strong experience across hybrid cloud and on-premise environments.
- Hands-on Azure and AWS experience.
- Strong Windows Server, Linux, VMware and networking knowledge.
- Proven infrastructure discovery, modernisation and transformation experience.
- Experience producing technical roadmaps, HLDs and LLDs.
- Cloud migration, replatforming and infrastructure remediation experience.
- Strong troubleshooting and L3 escalation capability.
- Able to work autonomously and communicate technical recommendations to senior stakeholders.

Desirable
- Experience within financial services, insurance or another regulated environment.
- Terraform / Infrastructure-as-Code.
- Security and infrastructure hardening experience.
- Experience transitioning services to an MSP / managed service environment.
