Level 3 IT Solutions Technician Apprenticeship – Dereham Neatherd High School

We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated IT Solutions Technician Apprentice to join our team at Dereham Neatherd High School, part of the Enrich Learning Trust. This is an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience supporting IT systems across an educational environment that values innovation, collaboration, and excellence.

Apprenticeship Summary:

  • Salary: £8 per hour
  • Working Week: Monday to Friday, 8:00am – 4:00pm (Friday until 3:30pm)
  • Hours: 37 hours per week
  • Location: Dereham Neatherd High School, 55 Norwich Road, Dereham, NR20 3AX
  • Qualification: Level 3 IT Solutions Technician Apprenticeship
  • Apprenticeship Training: Delivered online and supported by experienced tutors

Need to be a car driver with access to your own car

The Role:

As an IT Solutions Technician Apprentice, you will help maintain and support the IT infrastructure across Dereham Neatherd High School and assist with wider support across the Enrich Learning Trust where required. You will ensure consistent access to the school’s network and internet, maintain cybersecurity standards, and support staff and students with IT-related queries.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide first-line support for IT issues and service requests via the central helpdesk.
  • Install, configure, and maintain hardware, software, and network systems.
  • Monitor and maintain network security, ensuring compliance with data protection and GDPR regulations.
  • Set up new users, manage accounts, and remove access when staff or students leave.
  • Support the maintenance and repair of IT equipment, printers, and classroom devices.
  • Assist with routine system backups and ensure network stability across the school.
  • Provide technical assistance for audio-visual equipment and school events.
  • Contribute to IT projects and upgrades across the Trust.
  • Support cybersecurity awareness and promote safe digital practices among staff and students.
  • Uphold safeguarding responsibilities and maintain confidentiality at all times.

The Candidate:

The ideal candidate will be a proactive, tech-savvy problem solver with a genuine interest in IT systems and digital technologies. They will demonstrate excellent communication skills, a positive attitude, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a supportive team.

Essential Skills and Experience:

  • Knowledge of Microsoft 365, including Teams, Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Experience with installing, upgrading, and maintaining software and PC hardware.
  • Understanding of basic networking systems and troubleshooting.
  • Strong time management and organizational skills.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with staff, students, and external contacts.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and data protection principles.
  • Professional and reliable attitude with attention to detail.
  • Calm, flexible, and customer-focused approach to work.
  • Driver's Licence and own car

Training and Development:

As an apprentice, you will receive a combination of structured online learning and practical, on-the-job training. You will work towards achieving the Level 3 IT Solutions Technician Apprenticeship standard, supported by experienced mentors and tutors. Regular progress reviews will help you develop your skills, confidence, and career prospects.

Career Progression:

Upon successful completion of the apprenticeship, there may be opportunities for full-time employment within Dereham Neatherd High School or across the Enrich Learning Trust.

Pre-employment Checks:

All applicants should be aware that, upon a successful offer of employment, a full enhanced DBS check will be completed in line with safer recruitment practices. Right-to-work verification and an online social media screening will also be conducted in accordance with Keeping Children Safe in Education guidance.
