JOB SUMMARY
It’s great to know you’re making a difference to the future of aviation! Whatever part you play you’ll be helping us deliver operational excellence to our customers. At our GKN Filton site, we specialise in the design and manufacture of large complex structural wing assemblies, detailed metallic components and wing systems for a combination of both civil and military aircraft.
The successful fabricators will be expected to work with a variety of industry equipment in carrying out various fabrication duties.
We're looking for individuals that have knowledge of Pipe Bending, Swaging, Drill/Ream/Countersink in panels and other skills as expected with the role.
The role will see candidates working day shifts, on a Monday – Thursday basis, there is opportunity to work night shifts once fully trained which incurs an additional 33% shift premium.
HOW YOU'LL CONTRIBUTE
In this role, you will:
- Work with various materials (titanium, aluminium, stainless steel) in the manufacture of aircraft parts, across a variety of Airbus family of aircraft
- Ensure parts are produced on a ‘right first time’ basis
- Be responsible for the timely clearance of work phases using the SAP system
- Be responsible for highlighting any non-conformance to the Process Team Leader
- Adhere to the requirements of the GKNAF Quality Procedures
- Be accountable for Health & Safety requirements under Section 7 of the HASAWA 1974
- Hold first party inspection approval (M02 status is subject to obtaining A stamp approval)
- Be responsible for general housekeeping within the area
- Compliance with all risk assessments and company Environment, Health & Safety Procedures relevant to all work activities

WHAT YOU'LL BRING
To help us make a difference, you’ll bring your passion and talent for what you do along with the following skills, experience, qualifications and attributes:
Essential:
- A recognised and relevant apprenticeship and relevant NVQ level 3 (Or equivalent)
- Previous experience in a manufacturing environment
- Ability to work to standard operating procedures
- Must be able to work in small teams with Team Leaders
- Self-motivated team player with good communication skills
Desirable:
- Knowledge of Lean manufacturing principles and techniques to support GKNAF continuous improvement initiatives
- Ability to operate CNC Machinery (Unison Pipe Bending machines, Power Presses, CNC Drilling & routering)
- Experience of swaging pipework
