This Position Requires You To:

  • Collaborate with colleagues in using the Early Years Matters, Quality Framework and adhering to the Early Years Statutory Requirements. Your primary responsibility is to create a stimulating nursery environment, respecting children as individuals whilst recognizing their needs and encouraging their individual and collective development.

Your Personal Qualities Should Include:

  • Being passionate about inclusive childcare
  • Good communication skills
  • Good understanding of safety and hygiene
  • Respectful towards children, families, and colleagues
  • Tune into children’s needs and respond using age and stage-appropriate language

Essential Qualifications:

  • You must hold a child care qualification to a Level 3, or higher.

Training Provided:

  • Relevant mandatory and professional training.

Responsibilities & Accountabilities:

The Team

  • Creating a safe and stimulating environment both inside and outside where children can learn and develop by following the Development Matters framework.
  • Maintaining effective working relationships with all staff.
  • Working with all staff to ensure equality of opportunity and inclusivity for children, parents, and staff.
  • To contribute ideas into planning of children’s interests through appropriate activities. To evaluate activities and planning on a regular basis.
  • To be able to use your initiative to set up activities in your designated area.
  • To support new staff and students within the setting.
  • To attend all staff meetings and room meetings and continue to develop your practice through attending relevant courses.
  • To take full responsibility for children during outings as legally required and following the Centrepoint procedures.
  • To represent the team leader in his/her absence.
  • To input into the Early Years Matters (Self Evaluation) Document for registration and work to improve on best practice every year.

The Parent

  • Recording and passing on any appropriate information required by Centrepoint policies and procedures, maintaining this information as laid down in the policies.
  • Maintaining close effective working partnerships with parents/carers to ensure the well-being of their children.
  • Have effective communication with the parents and other staff regarding the needs of the child.

The Child

  • Each Nursery Officer is responsible for their own key worker group and should be aware of the overall care of all the children within the nursery and on outings.
  • Maintaining effective working relationships with children while ensuring equality of opportunity.
  • Being proactive in recognizing that children are individuals, acknowledging their right to have a role in defining their environment and respecting their learning and play.
  • To observe, monitor, and record the development of each child in their key worker group and highlight any fluctuations from the expected development.
  • To share information relevant to the child with parents and other staff.

Outside agencies

  • Maintaining effective working relationships with students and all relevant external agencies.
  • To be able to write up evidence with the assistance of the practice manager for external agencies in preparation for meetings.
  • To lease and implement plans from professionals for key children and share those plans with all staff members.

Accountabilities

  • You are accountable to the Team Leader, Practice Manager, and EY Coordinator for:
    • The care and development of the key children in your care.
    • Effective communication with parents/carers and other staff for your key children.
    • Adhering to the Statutory Requirements for Early Years at all times.
    • Following the Policies and Procedures as set out by Centrepoint.
