Summary
Evergreen School is a special school with two purpose-built campuses in Warwick. We are looking for a Teaching Assistant Apprentice to join our team. You may already have SEN experience or be in a mainstream setting, or have gained your experience, knowledge, and skills somewhere else.
Wage:
£13,416 for your first year, then could increase depending on your age
National Minimum Wage rate for apprentices

Teaching assistant (level 3)
Hours:
Monday, 9.00am - 5.00pm.
Tuesday, 9.00am - 4.00pm and Wednesday to Friday, 9.00am - 3:35pm.

Work
Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.
What you'll do at work
- Contribute to curriculum planning and evaluation and assist in implementation
- Assist in the delivery of lessons/sessions and interact with the teacher and pupils as required
- Undertake agreed learning activities/teaching programmes, adjusting according to pupil responses
- Support and use ICT in learning activities and develop pupils’ competence and independence in its use
- Support individuals or groups during independent / group work
- Encourage pupils to engage and learn in a fun and safe way through a developmentally appropriate curriculum
- Occasional support to the whole class for short periods
- Help pupils develop communication skills using a total communication approach
- Promote inclusion and acceptance of all pupils
- Promote independence and development of self-esteem
- Assist in the personal, social, emotional development of pupils and the development of self-esteem
- Assist with the development and implementation of personalised learning intentions
- Support pupils to manage their emotions and responses to the environment
- Work with the class team and the family to implement the individual support plans
- Using specialist skills/knowledge/training, provide support in specialist areas
- Comply with the school’s Code of Conduct, Child Protection and Safeguarding policies and practices
- Assist with lesson/activity planning, delivery and evaluation
- Monitor individual/group achievement of learning intentions and feedback to the teacher/pupil
- Contribute to pupil assessment through observation and reporting in line with the school assessment systems
- Record information relevant to assessment and review of pupils’ progress
- Collaborate with team members to compile assessments and reports to support the annual review of the pupils Educational Health Care Plan
- Active involvement in day-to-day management of the learning environment

- Communicate with teachers to ensure clarity of the TA’s role
- Apply teaching strategies to deliver learning activities or interventions
- Build relationships with learners, teachers, other professionals and stakeholders
- Comply with legislation, guidance, and procedures for Prevent, safeguarding and health & safety
- Support the well-being and mental health of learners
- Observe, record, and report on learners in line with organisational procedures
- Apply methods of formative assessment
- Use up to date technology safely, to support learning
- Encourage safe use of technology by learners
- Adapt teaching strategies to support all learners
- Identify and respond to pastoral and academic behaviours in learners
- Provide feedback to learners
Training schedule
The successful candidate will obtain a Level 3 SEND Pathway Teaching Assistant Apprenticeship standard qualification. An apprenticeship includes regular training with a college or other training organisation. Off-the-job training will follow the time allocations outlined in the Occupational Standard. Training schedule has yet to be agreed upon, further details will be made available at a later date.
