Teaching Assistant Apprenticeship at Claycots School
Claycots School, Town Hall Campus, are looking for a Teaching Assistant Apprentice to work with the teachers to support the teaching and learning within the school. Apprenticeship Overview
- Salary: £8.00 an hour, Automatic pay increase after one year on programme for 19+ year olds
- Working Week: Monday to Friday - 8.30am - 3.30pm (30 minutes lunch break)
- Hours: 32.5 hours per week
- Duration: 18 months
- Level: 3 Teaching Assistant Apprenticeship standard qualification
- Online training: Supported by our dedicated tutor
- Location: 33 Bath Road, Slough, SL1 3UQ
What you’ll do at work
- Work between 2 sites SL2 1QX & SL1 3UQ
- Assist the teachers in preparing the classrooms and clear up after use keeping the classroom in good order
- In conjunction with the teacher to proactively provide challenging learning opportunities
- Help with the planning, preparing, monitoring and assessing of the learning activities
- Implement strategies for teaching and learning differentiated to differing groups and pupils
- Be familiar with pupils’ individual targets, EHCP outcomes and individual lesson plans
- Use initiative and proactively facilitate the progress, integration and inclusion of pupils
- Supervise pupils at breaks and lunch
- Accompany pupils on trips and outside learning
- Ensure the safety of pupils, staff, and self using Team Teach
- Support pupils during integration opportunities or work experience placements
- Provide general admin support to the teacher
- In collaboration with the class teacher liaise with parents and other professionals, maintaining a professional approach at all times
- Be responsible for promoting and safeguarding the welfare of pupils
- Provide support for pupils' emotional and social development by encouraging and modelling positive relationships
- Use ICT to support the teaching and preparation of resources
- Follow the school's behaviour policy to support pupils
- Following school procedures to attend to pupils’ social, health, physical, behavioural and medical needs in accordance with individual pupils' plans
- Be aware of key school policies and procedures, especially the health and safety and safeguarding policies, and report concerns to the appropriate person
- Respect the confidentiality of pupil information and respond sensitively to pupils' needs
- Proactively improve your own practice through observation, training and discussion
- All staff to work towards the school development objectives promoting a mutually respectful professional and positive school environment

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?
The successful candidate will obtain a Level 3 Teaching Assistant Apprenticeship standard qualification.
Each apprentice will have their own dedicated tutor who will conduct monthly remote tutorials and reviews, providing continuous support throughout the apprenticeship program. Depending on the apprentice’s needs, the frequency of these sessions may vary.
What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?
Potential full-time employment for the right candidate upon successful completion of the apprenticeship.
