LGV Driver (Class C)
Location: Plymouth
Work Pattern: Full Time, Permanent
Salary: £42,731.52
Summary of Role
We are looking for a safety-focused and reliable LGV Driver (Class C) to join our Cross Dock Centre team in Plymouth. In this role, you will be responsible for delivering customer orders across the South of England, ensuring products arrive safely, accurately, and on schedule. You will play a key role in maintaining excellent customer service standards while operating in line with transport regulations, health and safety requirements, and company procedures.
Responsibilities
- Deliver customer orders across the South of England in line with scheduled routes and delivery times.
- Ensure deliveries are completed accurately, consistently, and to a high standard.
- Operate LGV vehicles safely and efficiently in accordance with road transport legislation.
- Comply with Drivers' Hours Regulations, Working Time Directive requirements, and company policies.
- Maintain high standards of vehicle care and fuel-efficient driving.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues to support operational objectives and service levels.
- Meet operational performance targets and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
- Follow safe working practices and report any issues, incidents, or non-compliance promptly.
Skills and Knowledge
- Valid HGV Class C or C+E driving licence.
- Driver CPC qualification and valid Digital Tachograph Card.
- Previous experience driving commercial vehicles, including rigid or articulated vehicles.
- Good geographical knowledge of the UK road network.
- Strong understanding of tachograph regulations and Working Time Directive requirements.
- Ability to complete tachograph manual entries accurately.
- Ability to follow instructions and work to established procedures.
- Good numeracy skills and attention to detail.

- Experience working within a distribution, logistics, or transport environment.
- Knowledge of Microlise or similar driver performance systems.
- Experience delivering to multiple customer locations.
- Understanding of transport compliance and operational KPIs.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Ability to build positive working relationships with colleagues and customers.
- Experience contributing ideas for process improvements.
- Flexible approach to working hours to support business needs.

Qualifications
- High School Diploma/GED or equivalent experience required.
- Less than 2 years of experience in transportation, logistics, courier operations, delivery services, or a related field required.
- Certification in dangerous goods awareness, licensure in operation of the applicable vehicle class, cold chain handling, or equivalent required.
