If you are already handling Employers’ Liability and Public Liability claims and want more technical exposure, greater trust in your judgement and a realistic route into loss adjusting, this could be a very sensible next move.
This is a fully remote Liability Claims Handler opportunity within a substantial UK claims operation, where you will manage a varied portfolio of EL, PL, personal liability and commercial liability losses from instruction through to settlement.
You will retain ownership of your own caseload, but you will also work alongside experienced Liability Adjusters when claims become more complex. That combination gives you the chance to deepen your technical capability without having to make an immediate jump away from the claims handling experience you have already built.
The opportunity
You will manage claims through investigation, coverage assessment, liability decision, quantum assessment and settlement, working within delegated authority.
The role needs somebody who is comfortable making reasoned decisions rather than simply progressing files through a process. You will review evidence, interpret policy wording, assess liability and quantum, negotiate settlements and explain your decisions clearly to the different parties involved.
Where a loss is more complex or higher value, you will work closely with a Liability Adjuster, giving you exposure to more technical claims and helping you build the skills required for a future move into field-based adjusting.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits
No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Managing an end-to-end caseload of Employers’ Liability, Public Liability, personal liability and commercial liability claims.
- Investigating circumstances and gathering the evidence needed to make informed liability decisions.
- Reviewing policy wording and establishing the extent of cover.
- Assessing liability and quantum within your delegated authority.
- Negotiating settlements and responding confidently to challenge from claimants and third parties.
- Liaising with policyholders, clients, brokers, solicitors and other parties involved in the claim.
- Working alongside Liability Adjusters on more complex or higher-value losses.
- Managing client instructions, service levels and claims progression while maintaining accurate file records.

You will already be handling Liability claims on an end-to-end basis and should be comfortable managing EL and PL losses from initial instruction through to conclusion.
You are likely to have:
- Strong Employers’ Liability and Public Liability claims handling experience.
- Delegated authority in the region of £75,000 to £100,000 or above.
- Confidence assessing quantum and making defensible claims decisions.
- Experience managing a caseload against client instructions and service level agreements.
- The ability to work effectively in a measured claims environment where service and performance standards matter.
- A sound understanding of relevant regulatory requirements and treating customers fairly.
- The communication skills to explain liability and coverage decisions clearly to people without an insurance background.

A CII qualification or equivalent would be useful, although it is not essential, and study support is available.
The business
You will be joining an established UK claims operation with significant capability across both desk-based and field adjusting.
There is experienced technical support around you, so more difficult claims are not dealt with in isolation, and the wider structure gives you access to specialist expertise as your experience develops.
For somebody interested in progressing towards liability adjusting, there is a genuine route to build that capability over time rather than having to wait for an external move to create the opportunity.
Package and benefits
The role is fully remote, giving you the flexibility to work from home while remaining part of an established UK liability claims team.
You will also have access to professional study support and broader career opportunities across claims and adjusting as your experience develops.
The next step
If you are an experienced Liability Claims Handler and this sounds relevant, you do not need to have decided that you are definitely leaving your current employer before having a conversation.
A confidential discussion will give you the chance to understand the caseload, technical expectations and progression route properly before deciding whether it is worth taking any further.
