Location: Reader Services, Bodleian Old Library and Radcliffe Camera, Broad Street, Oxford, OX1 3BG
Hours: Part-time, 0.2260 FTE or 0.3425 FTE depending on post
Contract type: Permanent
Grade: Grade 2, £26,686 – £26,979 per annum (pro rata)
About The Role
The Bodleian Libraries at the University of Oxford is the largest university library system in the UK, with collections and services supporting readers, researchers and visitors from around the world.
You will welcome readers and visitors to the Bodleian Libraries and provide high-quality customer service across our reading rooms. Working on front-line desks, you will help with admissions, respond to enquiries, assist readers in locating material and using library services, and carry out transactions including issuing, returning and renewing material.
There are four permanent part-time posts available, with the following anticipated working patterns:
- Posts 1 and 2, 0.2260 FTE: fortnightly Saturday, 9.45am to 6.15pm, and every Monday, 5pm to 9.15pm.
- Post 3, 0.2260 FTE: fortnightly Saturday, 9.45am to 6.15pm, and every Friday, 5pm to 9.15pm.
- Post 4, 0.3425 FTE: fortnightly Sunday, 10.45am to 7.15pm, and every Wednesday and Thursday, 5pm to 9.15pm.
The role requires regular manual handling, including lifting, moving and carrying books and journals.

About You
You will be educated to GCSE level or equivalent and will be able to communicate effectively, confidently and courteously with readers, colleagues and members of the public. You will understand the importance of good customer care and be committed to providing an excellent quality service.
