Job Summary

To ensure that behavioral and psychological information is incorporated into a multi-disciplinary report to determine Provisional and Lanterman Eligibility for applicants who apply. To utilize the methods and skills of psychology to insure the provision of comprehensive services to the developmentally disabled individuals of the region. To implement the vision of the Agency.

Essential Job Functions

  • Review and assess diagnostic reports, academic records, and other documentation to understand the nature and severity of an applicant's condition and disability and apply it to required eligibility criteria.
  • Interview, observe, evaluate, and consult with relevant collaterals of regional center applicants to obtain information needed to make a determination regarding regional center eligibility.
  • Assists in matters related to psychology, specifically to the provision of comprehensive services to people with developmental disabilities.
  • Participates as a member of the multi-disciplinary diagnostic and consultation team of the Agency.
  • Participates as teacher/consultant to Agency personnel involved in the development and delivery of services to people with developmental disabilities served by San Andreas Regional Center.
  • Assists in the development of new programs where need arises and in the ongoing evaluation of programs for the developmentally disabled operated by the Agency or by agencies and professionals within the region.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned, such as conservatorship petitions and competency to stand trial evaluations, and diversion plans.

Required Skills

  • Strong interview skills with individuals ages 3 through older adult.
  • The ability to review large amounts of information and draw conclusions, the ability to extract information from diagnostic reports, the ability to converge data from multiple data sources in order to make clinical decisions.
  • Skill in concise report writing.
  • Ability to consult and collaborate with team members
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
  • Clear communication skills.
  • A minimum of two years of experience in diagnosing Autism and IDD
  • Proficiency in administering, scoring, and interpreting IQ, adaptive skills, and autism related measures.
  • Ex: WISC-V, ADOS-2, WAIS-5, ABAS-3 (or similar adaptive measure), etc.
  • Please be prepared to submit an assessment report from your work following graduate training, with all identifying information redacted.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with conservatorships, competency evaluations, and/or fair hearings

Requirements

Education/Experience

  • Doctorate in Clinical or Educational Psychology from an accredited educational facility and licensed to practice by the State of California Board of Psychology.
  • A minimum of two years experience in which a significant portion of time has been spent in programs or services for the developmentally disabled is required.

Special Skills and Knowledge

  • Ability to relate to and convey knowledge in a constructive, supportive and collaborative manner to clients, their families and professionals within the Agency and with other community organizations and programs.
  • Knowledge of the principles, methods, techniques, and materials of psychology in serving the developmentally disabled.
  • Knowledge of the sources, uses, administrations and interpretations of psychological and behavioral tests.
  • Ability to prepare verbal and written reports in a clear, concise and appropriate manner.

Other

  • Use of an automobile, possession of a valid driver's license and automobile liability insurance for the minimum amount prescribed by law, OR ability to provide for independent transportation.

$11,268 - $14,744 Monthly (depending on experience)
