About The Role
Supporting safe, compliant and well-regulated communities through excellent licensing services.
Join our Licensing team and play a key role in delivering efficient and effective licensing administration services across North Northamptonshire. You will provide accurate advice and guidance to applicants, licence holders and their representatives, ensuring applications are processed in line with relevant legislation, regulations and council procedures. This is an excellent opportunity for a customer-focused individual who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment and making a positive difference to local communities.
What will you be doing?
- Providing advice and guidance to applicants, licence holders and customers on licensing processes, policies and procedures.
- Processing licence, permit, registration and notice applications accurately and within required timescales.
- Managing consultation processes and liaising with relevant agencies, stakeholders and representatives.
- Maintaining accurate records and verifying documentation using internal and external databases.
- Ensuring licensing records are compliant with data protection, Freedom of Information and data retention requirements.
- Checking, recording and charging licensing fees accurately.
- Identifying and escalating issues to the Licensing Enforcement Team where formal action may be required.
- Producing reports and management information to support service delivery and performance monitoring.
- Supporting the development and maintenance of licensing forms, guidance documents, website content and internal procedures.
- Managing the Licensing inbox, responding to enquiries and directing requests to the appropriate team or service.
- Working with partners including the Police, Home Office Immigration Enforcement, Trading Standards and Customer Services to support licensing activities.
- Delivering a professional, customer-focused service that helps ensure compliance with licensing legislation and promotes safe, well-regulated communities.

About You
- Educated to 4 GCSE’s Grade C or above or equivalent standard including English and Maths.
- Experience in an administration/customer service environment.
- Experience in dealing with enquiries and communicating with the public.
- Appreciation of need and purpose of Licensing.
- Computer literate in the use of Microsoft Windows applications and the Internet.
- Database experience.
- Excellent communication and organisational skills.
- Ability to work to tight deadlines and prioritise work demands and pressures, including own caseload.
- Excellent Customer Service skills.
- Attention to detail.
- Ability to handle difficult situations.
- Ability to follow written procedures and processes.
- Ability to work well as a team.
- Self-motivated
- Ability to demonstrate awareness/understanding of equal opportunities and other people’s behaviour, physical, social and welfare needs.
