Location: Ards but may be required to work in other council areas

Pay Rate: £20.41 per hour

Contract: Temporary | Full-Time

Our Client, a local public sector organisation, are seeking a motivated and experienced Licensing Officer to join their team on a full-time temporary basis.

The Role

As a Licensing Officer, you will play a key role in administering and enforcing licensing legislation. You will be responsible for assessing applications, conducting inspections, investigating complaints, and ensuring licensed premises operate in accordance with statutory requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Process and assess a range of licensing applications in line with relevant legislation and organisational procedures.
  • Conduct inspections of licensed premises and businesses to ensure compliance with licensing conditions.
  • Assess Fire Risk Assessments and ensure compliance with relevant fire safety legislation.
  • Investigate complaints and breaches of licensing legislation, taking appropriate enforcement action where required.
  • Prepare detailed reports, correspondence, and documentation to support licensing decisions and legal proceedings.
  • Provide advice and guidance to businesses, applicants, colleagues, and members of the public.
  • Consult with partner agencies including emergency services and other regulatory bodies.
  • Maintain accurate records using electronic systems and ensure all documentation is completed to a high standard.

Essential Criteria

Applicants must demonstrate all the following:

  • 2 A Levels (or equivalent qualification).
  • An approved certification in Fire Risk Assessment.
  • A minimum of 6 months' experience assessing Fire Risk Assessments.
  • A minimum of 6 months' experience enforcing relevant legislation.
  • A minimum of 6 months' experience maintaining accurate records and compiling reports.
  • Excellent communication and people skills.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise a varied workload.
  • Competent in the use of Microsoft Office applications and electronic record management systems.

Driving Requirement (Essential)

Applicants must hold a full current driving licence and have access to their own vehicle (or have access to a suitable means of transport that enables them to undertake the duties of the post), as regular travel throughout the borough is required.
