Job Description

Lifecyle Engineer Secondment Project Rainbow

2 year Secondment (Full Time)

Location: Faslane

Why Rolls-Royce?

It’s not every day that you can say that the work you do helps keep the UK safe, but that is just one of the unique benefits of securing a role within Rolls-Royce Submarines.

The Submarine Availability Initiative (SAI) identified a requirement to improve the Nuclear Steam Raising Plant (NSRP) Technical Authority (TA) representation and input to the planning of Submarine maintenance periods at His Majesty’s Naval Base (HMNB). An excellent opportunity has become available for a Lifecycle Engineering Secondee at HMNB Clyde (Faslane). An all-encompassing role where you will be working across a variety of stakeholders including the customers, partners and internal colleagues.

Join us and we’ll provide an environment where you can be yourself. An inclusive, digital-first culture that invests in you, gives you a platform for continuous learning, and access to an incredible breadth and depth of opportunities to grow your career.

As a Lifecycle Engineering Secondee you will be supporting the main objective of the Rainbow Team enabling Rolls-Royce NSRP system expertise and experience to be applied to the planning of upcoming Base Maintenance Periods (BMPs), with the aim of optimising NSRP maintenance.

We offer excellent development, a competitive salary and exceptional benefits. These include bonus, employee support assistance and employee discounts.

Hybrid working is a way in which our people can balance their time between the office, home or another remote location. It’s a locally managed and flexed informal discretionary arrangement. As a minimum we’re all expected to attend the workplace for collaboration and other specific reasons, frequency will depend on business needs, nature of role, what works for the team and for the individual. Discover more on our GBS Service Portal about hybrid working.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
