Job Summary

Working within the Lift & Escalator Department, the L&E Operations Support role supports the Lift & Escalator Services Manager in ensuring all landlord-owned lifts and escalators are maintained, safe, reliable, and operating to the highest standards across the Canary Wharf Estate. The role combines operational, technical awareness, asset management, and administrative responsibilities.

40 hours per week, 8am to 5pm, Monday to Friday.

Salary up to £45,000 p.a., dependent on experience.

Main Responsibilities

Health, Safety & Operational Assurance

  • Ensure adherence to Health & Safety policies, statutory regulations, CDM requirements, and permit-to-work procedures.
  • Support in reviewing contractor RAMS and support with permit approvals.
  • Maintain operational records relating to LOLER inspections, audits, and contractor performance.
  • Support the L&E team with management of the asset register, including updating emergency defects, equipment data, maintenance records.

Asset Performance & Operations

  • Register and monitor contractor call-outs, repairs, and service restoration activities.
  • Maintain asset and defect records through SharePoint and associated systems.
  • Conduct routine inspections and condition assessments of lifts and escalators, ensuring assets are maintained to CWG standards and compliance requirements.
  • Monitor maintenance programmes, contractor attendance, and service delivery performance.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing service delivery, asset performance, operational efficiency, contractor performance, and customer experience.

Contractor & Service Delivery Support

  • Co-ordinate contractor activities and monitor performance against contractual requirements.
  • Track actions arising from audits, inspections, and defect reports.
  • Support delivery of major repairs, refurbishments, and modernisation projects.

Administration and Reporting

  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance visits, inspections, repairs, and contractor documentation.
  • Update departmental trackers including WIP, defects, and emergency response records.
  • Prepare KPI reports, dashboards, and operational performance information.
  • Support meetings, record actions, and track completion.

Emergency Response and Technical Support

  • Provide support during equipment failures, breakdowns, and passenger entrapments.
  • Attend site inspections with management and contractors when required.
  • Support engineering teams to maximise equipment availability and minimise downtime.
  • Carry out any other reasonable duties as requested by the Lift & Escalator Services Manager in support of departmental objectives.

Financial & Administrative Support

  • Support in raising purchase orders, processing invoices, and maintain accurate records.
  • Support expenditure monitoring and departmental reporting.

Person Specification

  • Minimum 3 years' experience within the lift and escalator industry or related building services environment.
  • Good understanding of lift and escalator operations, LOLER requirements, and industry standards.
  • Strong organisational and administrative skills.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office, SharePoint, and reporting tools.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Technically aware of lift and escalator systems and safe working practices.
