Role Description
The Lift Engineer role at Mercury Lifts is a full-time, on-site position based in Cheshire East. Day-to-day tasks include inspecting, maintaining, and repairing elevators and lifting equipment to ensure safe and reliable operation. The role involves diagnosing faults, performing scheduled servicing, carrying out modernisation work, and supporting testing and certification activities in line with regulatory standards. The Lift Engineer will collaborate with colleagues, communicate clearly with customers about work performed, and document all maintenance and repair activities accurately. The position may require participation in an on-call rota to respond to urgent breakdowns and support 24/7 service coverage.

- Strong technical knowledge of lifting equipment and elevator systems, including installation, operation, and fault diagnosis.
- Proven experience in maintenance & repair of lifts or similar electromechanical systems, with the ability to complete work efficiently and to a high standard.
- Sound understanding of health & safety practices, regulations, and compliance requirements relevant to lift engineering.
- Effective communication and customer service skills to explain technical issues clearly, manage expectations, and maintain professional client relationships.
- Relevant vocational qualification or apprenticeship in lift engineering, electrical engineering, or mechanical engineering.
- Ability to read technical drawings and service manuals, and to use diagnostic tools and test equipment.
- Full driving license and willingness to travel to client sites across the region.
- Capability to work independently, manage time well, and adapt to changing schedules and priorities.
