Hays Civil Engineering Lift Supervisor Opportunity
Hays Civil Engineering are working with a leading infrastructure contractor delivering major investment works across the UK water sector. Due to an increasing workload across treatment works, pumping stations and network improvement schemes, we are seeking an experienced Lift Supervisor to join a long-term programme of work. This is an excellent opportunity for somebody with a strong background in lifting operations, heavy plant movements and construction safety who is looking to work on complex infrastructure projects within a highly regulated environment.
This role offers a strong and flexible hybrid working arrangement.
The Role
As Lift Supervisor, you will be responsible for overseeing and coordinating lifting activities on site, ensuring all operations are carried out safely, efficiently and in accordance with project procedures and industry standards. Working closely with site management, crane operators, slinger/signallers and subcontractors, you will play a key role in maintaining compliance and driving safe delivery throughout the construction programme.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
